Community Centres Review, Appendix 1

Report prepared by the council's North East Local Area Management Team. They interviewed groups who run community facilities to investigate whether the council should support a newbuild community centre (i.e. whether they should support our project). The report was presented to the Local Area Committee (made of Councillors for Chapeltown (Chapel Allerton), Roundhay and Moortown) on 16th October 2006. Deputation to the council - text In February 2006 we made a deputation to a full council meeting, outlining our case and demanding that an investigation was made into the closure of the centre and allocation of land to the LIFT company without any public consultation. This is the workshop & discussion held with representatives of groups which provide facilities in Chapeltown - we wanted to know whether they felt a new community centre was a good idea or a bad one and what they felt the area needs.
Statement presented to the NE (Inner) Area Committee, 4th December 06 This is the statement and proposal we took to the Area Committee meeting in December 06, following their decision to support the Community Facilities Review produced by the Local Area Management Team. It contains our request for them to provide us with a letter in support of the project and for the Local Area Team to work with us in identifying and putting aside land for us to buy at market value.
